Hygge, which means warmth and coziness, is a tried and true way of life in Scandinavia. While it’s usually associated with fall and winter, summertime hygge is a real thing, and I encountered it this week in Copenhagen. It does indeed involve Tevas, along with Havaianas, but this season, one garment in particular symbolizes the hygge concept. Enter the tent dress—a giant, billowy blanket of a thing that covers the entire body head-to-toe. Between shows, gaggles of influencers floated through the streets in tent silhouettes. Cecilie Thorsmark, the new, very chic CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, wore a voluminous trapeze to the organization’s official opening dinner. It’s a trend that makes sense for this part of the world, not just because of the Danes’ dedication to cozying up and chilling out, but also because Copenhagen’s cool girls all love a floaty frock in a floral print or bright color.
